“Walt Mossberg says his Vista startup experience was pretty horrid because of the tons of ads and other things that OEMs load onto the OS. They do that to try to make a few extra bucks on each machine sold. Microsoft can’t stop them because the DOJ made it impossible to push around the OEMs [...]

Wow. Now the tech press is on a roll about security issues with Windows Vista. They are all over it. Even Symantec’s CEO now says he wouldn’t upgrade to Vista at this time.

Initial impressions: easy to use, intuitive, fluid, beautifully functional and secure.
I am pleased.

I have always had a fascination with desktop Linux. After all, it’s sleek, fast (usually) and being Open Source, the various Linux distros come with lots of free software. I sometimes think of it as “Mac light,” but Mac fans will probably disagree with that description.
The Problem
My problem with Linux has been that there is [...]

Steve Jobs Does It Again

Although I am currently using Windows on a Compaq laptop (and like it), I have to admit that I have a fascination with everything Apple and Macintosh. I have owned some Macs in the past. From a business and practical, everyday use standpoint, I like Windows. But the glitsy graphics, audio, digital imaging and video capabilities [...]
